Within the Congress a considerable section was drawn towards the socialist ideology. The first All India Socialist Conference was convened at Patna by Jayaprakash Narayan in May 1934. After this conference the Congress Socialists worked hard to organize the All India Congress Socialist Party. The first annual session of the All India Congress Socialist Party was held in Bombay in 1934. Inside the Congress they worked out anti-imperialist and nationalist nprogrammes of the Cingress as Congressmen and outside the Congress they mobilized the workers, peasants, students. Youth and women for the cause of socialism.
